Nobody's Perfect...So What Are YOU Waiting For

"NOBODY'S PERFECT!"  - no way, right?

We obviously all know this and use this statement all the time but yet I think we are all forget this.

I know that I can be so hard on myself sometimes and then you add other people into the mix and man, life can be a beating sometimes.  I know I expect too much of people and too much of myself a lot of the time. I am constantly reminding myself that we are all a bunch of sinners living in a world where we are covered because we have a loving Father who sent his son to take away our sins if we allow Him to.  I am constantly in need of His grace and mercy and I am so incredibly grateful that He loved me enough to  save me. I am grateful that He offers this to EVERYONE!

EVERYONE???? - yes, EVERYONE!  Sometimes I get so caught up in the day to day that I forget that even though Person X, Y, and Z in my life is in need of grace, mercy and love just like I am.  I sometimes expect or want other people to be perfect.

When I expect perfection, then I will always be disappointed but when I change my expectations, then I begin to see the best in people, I begin to see potential, I begin to see their hurts, I begin to have grace, I begin to love them for who God created them to be.  When I look at each person in my life as a child of God, broken and in need of a Savior just like me, then I begin to LOVE!

The same applies to myself too, when I quit expecting perfection, then I love better!  I move forward instead being stalled because what if it's not good enough? What will other people think? What if I fail?

Our greatest commandment is:
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:36-40

So I commit to try to LOVE regardless.  I remind myself that is what I am commanded to do.  If I love, then God's love and mercy can hopefully be conveyed through me.  If I love first, I have more patience.  If I love first, then I can grow with people.  I can love them for who God created them to be.

Striving for perfection sometimes keeps us from moving....so here is my challenge to myself and to others.  We ALL have this commandment to Love the Lord our God and to Love others! We can ALL do this!  It will look different for each and every one of us but if God's LOVE is at the center of all we do and say, then oh what a better world we would live in.  So today, GO and LOVE! We can all do that, right?
