Prayer Devotion - Too Good Not to Share

I opened up my "Jesus Calling" Devotion this morning and it was too good not to share this morning.  Or at least for me to write down to remember.

I accidentally (or maybe not so accidental) opened up the January 11th devotion.  The first sentence was "Trust Me by relinquishing control into my hands."  WOW, that is totally what I have been trying to do every day with this Cancer thing and everything else going on in my life both good and bad.

Then it went on to talk about prayer.  This is what I took from it:

1. Pray - lay out your concerns openly and candidly
2.  Next - Start thanking Him for results He is setting into motion
3. Next - Continue to thank Him for results both being seen and still too come

By giving thanks for how God is answering your prayers, your mind becomes positive. Continuing to restate your prayers keeps you in a constant state of tension.  "Thankful prayers keep your focus on My Presence and My Promises."

Psalm 46:10 in the Amplified version
10Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth!

Colossians 4:2 ESV
2 Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.

Anyways for what it is worth, I have truly enjoyed the "Jesus Calling" Devotional written by Sarah Young.  I had 2 different people give me a copy when I started my treatments and I really am apprecitaing it every day.  The devotions are on the shorter side which is perfect form me and they hit me exactly where I need them to.  I also received the kids version of this devotional and we do this (almost) nightly with our little kids and they are really enjoying it too.  Mikaelyn has one of the adult versions and does it most nights also.

Thanks for all your prayers as I go into today.  I have prayed for the strength and endurance to get through this treatment while still allowing Christ to shine through me.  I will now give thanks for the results that He is setting into motion and when I catch a glimpse of even the tiniest result, I will give thanks for those results.  And I will remember that God doesn't always answer prayers the way we might think or want but He always answers, we just have to be looking for His ways.

Love, ME

  2. Michelle, I love to read your post as it is as much a devotional to me as the ones I read each morning. You are beautiful and your beauty shines in your post as a testament to your great love and faith of God. You are right about "Jesus Calling"; each devo seems to be what you need when you need it. Some days are so spot on it is hard to fathom. You are in my prayers.
